Asia–Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art

The Asia–Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT) is the Queensland Art Gallery’s flagship international contemporary art event. It is the only major series of exhibitions in the world to focus exclusively on the contemporary art of Asia and the Pacific, including Australia.

Since the first Triennial in 1993, more than a million people have visited the APT exhibitions, peaking with more than 700 000 visitors to APT5. Reflecting the diversity of the Asia–Pacific region, each APT has presented a broad range of artists and their works.

‘The 5th Asia–Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art’ (APT5) was the opening exhibition at the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA), with displays across both the new and refurbished Gallery buildings. APT5 included around 270 works by 37 individual artists, filmmakers and performers, as well as two multi-artist projects.
