The Queensland Art Gallery's exhibitions and programs for children are nationally renowned. At the Children's Art Centre, we believe that encouraging the creative potential of every child is part of our core business. The Children's Art Centre spaces are located on level one and the park level of the Gallery of Modern Art. In these spaces children can engage in interactive activities.
In addition to these programs, the Children's Art Centre encompasses a vibrant program of exhibitions, interactives, artist-run workshops, publications, festivals and performances held across both the Queensland Art Gallery and the Gallery of Modern Art. The focus of our children's exhibition program is on major works from the Collection ― we want the state art collection to be a fun and enlightening part of the lives of the children of Queensland of all ages.
The Queensland Art Gallery has a long history of working directly with artists. At the Children's Art Centre this means we collaborate with artists to develop innovative programs that help children engage with art. Ideas are explored through artist-run workshops, specially created spaces for children, and practical activities designed by artists. Check out the exhibition archive to learn more about these exciting programs.
